WELCOME TO THE KID’S KITCHEN OASIS SUMMER COOKING, GARDENING & STEAM LAB!
Kids Kitchen Oasis –Summer Cooking, Gardening & STEAM Lab combines experimentation, cooking, gardening, and the astonishing power of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math with mouth-watering recipes to create a memorable culinary adventure for all young chefs in training from Jr. Master Chefs to newbies in the kitchen! ADD flavor, SUBTRACT dullness, and MULTIPLY education, entertainment, and delight while making culinary masterpieces and learning how to grow food. The FORMULA for an appetizing day engages kids in cooking, gardening, science, technology, engineering, art, and math to fabricate delicious creations and learn about the importance of food and how to use it to nourish themselves and those they love. Having your kids attend Kids Kitchen Oasis Cooking, Gardening, and STEAM Lab is an investment that will contribute to better health, wealth, and community that will last their whole lives.

Kid Kitchen Oasis –Summer Cooking, Gardening & STEAM Lab is a garden to table summer experience for New Haven area kids ages 7- 13. Students engage daily in the multifacted nature of food from seed to waste through activities like sprouting seeds, nature observational walks, tending to a garden, harvest food grown from our own hands, doing food “science” experiments, painting still lives of our vegetables, and creating food memory books. Kid Kitchen Oasis –Summer Cooking, Gardening & STEAM Lab teaches cooking in an interdisciplinary approach using food as a catalyst to teach about all aspects of life. An investment in teaching your child to cook sets a foundation for them to nourish and nurture themselves forever, those they care about and the earth that feeds them.
1: 8 ratio of Chef/Educator to Chef Camper supervision at all times. There is a minimum of 8 Chef Campers needed for each session to run.

A DAY IN THE LIFE…..
9 AM – 12 PM Morning Greeting and a short wellness exercise
A combination of activities including demonstrations of appropriate techniques, tastings, customized culinary art activity, garden lesson, science/ecological lab-based on theme for the day ethnic markets, food artisans, chefs, farms, community gardens, bakers, candy makers, restaurants, and/or cultural institutions, return to kitchen to prepare a hands-on lunch with the spoils of the morning, select teams to work on recipes
Visits from local food artisans, chefs, gardeners, bakers, candy makers, restaurants, owners. Each day students will work in teams for the hands-on experience of preparing their own lunch.

Mini – Cooking and STEAM Labs based on themes ranging from North on Your Fork, South in Your Mouth, New Haven’s Celebrity Chefs, Connecticut Cookbook Authors, Farmer’s Bounty, All About Pizza, Cooking Around the Clock
These times are approximate; each week is customized with community events and field trips, the desire and interests of the group, and level of experience of the group. The menus are based on what is fresh in the market and in our teaching garden. We also consider our little chefs’ preferences and palates. Whether we are on a field trip or creating memories at camp headquarters, each day is centered around food themes that include cooking, gardening, food production, preserving, science, art, sustainability, food justice, and culture.
Whether Gourmet Jr. wants a career in the culinary arts, or they just love to cook, Kid Kitchen Oasis is the place to learn from the best. Our 5-star chef/educators and stellar farm trainers will help your child discover the connoisseur within by teaching them to cook, garden and appreciate where their food comes from with field trips and visits with food professionals and artisans that New Haven is famed for all around the world.w.
